Deburring, polishing, and grinding are critical steps in manufacturing products like appliances, metal parts, mobile phone casings, and automotive components. Leantec Intelligence specializes in robotic arms with precise force and position control, enhancing rigidity and automating workpiece identification and machining trajectories.
While demand for automated deburring is growing in Taiwan, Mainland China, and Southeast Asia, many factories still rely on manual tools, resulting in inconsistent quality, low efficiency, and poor working conditions. Robotic automation addresses labor shortages, improves efficiency, and enhances product value, providing a competitive edge. As industries shift toward smart, flexible manufacturing, robotic deburring is a game-changer for machining factories.
A major Japanese home appliance manufacturer sought an automated deburring solution to streamline production. The goal was to automate the deburring of plastic molds, ensuring flexibility for monthly production plans while reducing challenges from varying workpieces and minimizing overtime for staff. Previously, operators manually performed punching and deburring after an automatic handling module of the injection molding machine placed the workpieces on a conveyor. With the integration of Leantec’s robotic arm, 60% of manual labor was replaced. The robot automatically picks up parts from the mold separation line and performs deburring.
The system supports 19 deburring programs and can handle up to 9 different workpieces simultaneously. Using sensors, the robot identifies each workpiece and deburrs it along the correct path, ensuring efficiency and flexibility for diverse production needs.
This project faced several challenges, but Syntec Group overcame them with strong system integration. One major hurdle was ensuring precise grinding pressure during robotic deburring. Maintaining stable cutting force and surface roughness was key, so auxiliary mechanisms were added to provide constant force for precise deburring. Floating mechanisms were also integrated to prevent issues like tool over-cutting or losing contact with the workpiece, ensuring stable contact and the required pressure. The system supports automatic workpiece exchange, allowing multiple processes in sequence, which improves pass rates and production efficiency. Additionally, the tools can integrate with an automatic tool-changing system for flexibility.
Leantec Intelligence provides not only hardware solutions but also tailored automation systems for specific production needs, including multinational project integration. Each implementation aims to deliver comprehensive smart manufacturing solutions that add real business value.
